Mr. Negrón Fernández is an attorney with over 25 years of experience, specializing in labor and employment law, general civil litigation, appellate litigation, arbitration, and counseling. His career, marked by public service, reflects a dedication to legal proficiency and justice. Negrón Fernández’s public service journey began in 2001, holding positions such as the National Security Adviser for the Governor of Puerto Rico, Administrator of the Juvenile Institutions Administration, and Secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. In 2007, he was appointed as a Superior Court Judge, presiding over civil courtrooms in three judicial regions, a drug court, and a courtroom specialized in injunctions in San Juan. He presided over significant cases covered by the media, including a class action regarding special education services in public schools and several cases related to a student strike that interrupted services in all campuses of the University of Puerto Rico. During his tenure as a Judge, Negrón Fernández served as Chief Judge of the Arecibo Judicial Region and lectured judges on several topics, such as managing a civil courtroom and rules of civil procedure.

As the Secretary of the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Negrón Fernández managed complex governmental, managerial, and budgetary responsibilities. Joining Marichal Hernández LLC in 2015, he brought a wealth of experience in government affairs and litigation, both in local and federal courts. He continues to influence the legal field as an Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. Earlier experiences include being a student law clerk for the former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, Hon. Carmen Consuelo Vargas, and law clerk for Justice Antonio S. Negrón García at the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico.
