Mr. Hernández, co-founder of Marichal Hernández LLC, combines over 40 years of legal and accounting expertise, focusing on estate planning, trust, tax and corporate law, and commercial law. His contributions have significantly impacted the legal and tax sectors in Puerto Rico.
Hernández’s professional journey began in 1974 as an audit senior, where he honed his accounting skills. His tenure as a tax supervisor further solidified his expertise in Tax and Commercial Law. In 1988, he co-founded Marichal Hernández LLC, embarking on a distinguished legal service and counsel path.
His influence extends beyond legal practice. Hernández has played a vital role in shaping Puerto Rico’s tax laws, notably contributing to the Tax Reform of the Puerto Rico Tax Code of 2011 and pivotal tax legislation. He has chaired the Rules and Regulations Committee of the Puerto Rico State Society of Certified Public Accountants. His past presidencies over the Board of Appeals of the Offices of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico and the Board of Accounting of Puerto Rico illustrate his leadership in accounting and legal arenas.
As a lecturer and former Accounting and Audit Professor at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Hernández is committed to education and mentorship. His J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, and a B.B.A. in Accounting are the foundations of his professional success, reflecting deep knowledge and strategic insight.
